Video Transcript
Let’s have a conversation about delegation. A lot of people talk about delegation but they are lousy at it. Here’s why: A lot of people, over time, take on all these little tasks and responsibilities.
Maybe they were things they did in a previous position. They got promoted up but they kept doing it because it was kind of fun.
The problem is these tasks can distract you from your big picture goals. So really take a moment and consider what are the things that you do that you could delegate.
People can be taught what to do and many will welcome the opportunity to try something new and to showcase their skills in a different way.
Sometimes you may be doing the old task that you don’t need to do because it’s kind of fun and they keep you from doing some of the serious work that you need to be focusing on.
Watch out for that procrastination trap. Delegation can be a wonderful thing but it needs to be more than just talk.
