You got your top performers but what about the other ones? Every organization has its top performers and the low performers. Let’s talk today about the low performers because often these people are being ignored or maybe tolerated. And that that could be causing some problems.

So look at those people who are not performing as well as you think they should. Is there a gap and their knowledge? Could some education or training help make them a little better? Consider making that investment.

Also, you want to think about, is this person a good fit in there current roll or perhaps is there a better position for them? This could also involved shifting some duties around. Can you find that fit?

The final thing, it’s about the cost of having someone around who may not be performing at a good level. Have you gotten used to saying, “Oh, the work isn’t very good but they’re nice.”

I’m all for kindness but sometimes that’s not good for your bottom line. These are things you need to think about, to make sure that the low performers are defining your success.
