Want to make better decisions that work? Try this process. You’re faced with having to make a big decision at work and maybe you’re not sure what to do or you just don’t feel confident in your decision making process. Try these ideas:

First thing I want you to do is think about the action that you want to see happen. What is the end result of the decision? Don’t address a specific decision, Address the problem that you’re trying to solve. Have that end result in mind.

Next I want you to think about, not just for the solution you have in mind, but what are other options that can help solve this problem?

Are there benefits to one more than the others? It could be a cost savings. It could be a savings of time. Really think about which one gives you the best return on your investment.

Finally, think about which decision you can best communicate to others in order to get them to buy into it. Very often if we are able to explain something to someone we thought it out really well.

That will give you confidence in your choice if you’ve learned or over learned all about the options, the choices. That way you’ll feel confident about your decision and you’ll be ready to move to the next step.
