Ken Okel, Convention speaker, Florida, poor sales training, Wachovia Bank, poor customer service, clear the path, my bank stinksWhen your someone from Wachovia Bank leaves you a phone message that you need to call about your account, it?s a reason to panic. The first thing that comes to mind is fraud.

I immediately checked my online balance and that?s when I started to get suspicious. All of my money was there. Now, I began to think more about the request to, ?Call about my account.? I started to get mad.

I dialed my branch and my call went to a voicemail account. I left this message:

?If you need to tell me about a problem with my account, call me,? I said. ?But if this is some kind of sales call, I don?t want to talk to you.?

I didn?t hear anything back for several days. Then I received a second message from a different bank representative.

?We just want to see if we can save you some money…? was all I heard before I hit delete on my voicemail.

Wachovia likes to tell you that it?s received numerous awards for customer service. Now the bank is resorting to the scare tactics of scam artists to try to boost sales quotas.

Lately, my interactions with Wachovia are about locations closing, bogus fees, and sloppy sales techniques that scream of desperation.
Not long ago, this led to me tell Wachovia to take me off their email and phone list. So why did I get a call? Apparently, it takes 30 to 60 days for the request to be fulfilled. When I withdraw money, it?s instantly processed. When I make a deposit, I have to wait a few days for the money to get into my account. But a request to be left alone, takes 30 to 60 days.

It?s a pain to switch banks. But being a customer shouldn?t feel like work.
