Computer door stop, Ken Okel, Clear the Path, are you replaceable, stress on the job

How much computer power does it take to hold open these doors?

Recently, while walking through an office, I burst out laughing. In this business, computer towers are being used as door stops.

As you know, technology changes rapidly but this seemed unbelievable. The machines look new. I’m sure they’ve been replaced with more compact, powerful, and cheaper models.

But it is kind of shocking to think that just one of the towers contains more computing power than the Apollo 11 mission had when it landed on the moon. The spaceship is in a museum. This computer is holding a door open.

Things can change and it’s not limited to machines.

Are your professional skills up to date? Is there some training that you know you need but you haven’t found time to take?

We’re in a recession. Do you have an updated resume? If you’re an owner, do you have an up to date business plan?

The one constant we know to be true is change. That’s going to create challenges and obstacles. In order to Clear the Path of them, you need to prepare for the unknown.

How do you do that? By taking care of all those things you’ve been meaning to do. Update that resume, draft a new business plan, and keep your skills on the cutting edge. That way if circumstances ever see you being asked to hold open a door, you’ll have options.
