Is it time to talk about the “A” word? Automation. At least once a year, it’s good to get your team together and talk about the tasks that they do that seem to take up a lot of time and don’t require much expertise.
These are prime candidates for automation. We’re not talking about replacing people with robots, but rather letting the robots or computer programs, you know what I mean, take over those time consuming tasks.
Every year, technology gets a little better. Automation solutions often become more expansive in terms of what can be done and the price also goes down. So spend some time, really catalog among your team those tasks that they’re doing that don’t have a lot of technical expertise. Don’t add a lot of value to the organization, but needs to still be done and see if there is some sort of automated solution that can help make everyone’s life easier.
Suddenly you may find that your team becomes that much more productive by having lots of those little tasks taken off the plate.
