Very often, the special is read to the customer as if it were a random number from the phone book. The words are there but there is no passion behind them. This makes me think that either the server:
- Does not like the special.
- Or has never tasted it.
Either way, it’s a poor sales job. A good server will describe a dish and its components in such a way that will make you start to salivate. His or her words will paint a picture in your mind. Suddenly, it becomes irresistible.
How do your employees describe your business? I’m not just talking about your sales team but every person in the organization. Have they been trained to describe your company in such a way that gets people excited? Or are they just reading the phone book to your potential customers?
Your employees are your greatest ambassadors. Empower them.
