It’s okay if you’ve ever said I don’t have time to be more productive. But let’s do something about that. 90 seconds. It’s not a lot of time but it can be a tremendous amount of time when it comes to improving your productivity.

Now you may be thinking, 90 seconds, what can you do in 90 seconds? When I was a TV reporter, 90 seconds was a very important number because that was the average length of my stories.

How do we make those 90 seconds work for you? A couple times a day, can you take a little 90 second break to do a few things. I want you to take 90 seconds, and this could be before lunch. This could be toward the end of the day, to clean your work space.

Clutter hurts productivity and leads to a lot of stress and frustration. So can you just take a couple seconds, 90 of them, just cleaning up your desk. That way you won’t be scrambling to find things.

You could also spend those 90 seconds to think about how are you doing today on achieving the goals that you had. We’ve talked before about you want to think about every day, what are the two most important things that I need to accomplish.

When are you going to get around to that? Make sure you have a plan to get back on track.

Finally, could you spend 90 seconds to address an ongoing question, that is good to be asked of you, but it takes a lot of time.

We talked before about how you can set up a special email signature that answers frequently asked questions. So then the next time someone asked you a question, you simply populate your email with that special email signature message, hit send, and you’ve answered the question.

You don’t have to start from scratch. So use those 90 seconds to compose that message.
