Video Transcript for Engage New Employees
You spend a lot of time hiring a new employee but do you need to spend more time training them? I see it a lot. An organization spends a lot of time hiring an employee, going through all the candidates, making sure it’s a good fit.
Then that person starts and there’s really no time to train that person because you’re busy already. That’s why you had to hire a new employee.
As a result, the person doesn’t get a whole lot of training or it’s a little here a little there, oh you’ll pick it up. Maybe they do but they may also pick up some bad habits. Or their performance isn’t as good as you wanted it to be.
Is it any wonder, if you don’t train the person right from the start. So, while you’re in the hiring process, start to think about how will you train that employee and how will you do it during a time when you will likely be busy?
This is a smart investment of time. It makes the new employee feel very welcome and it also helps them feel like they’re useful right from the start. You don’t want them standing around during busy times, wondering why he or she can’t contribute to the organization.
