For those who may be a bit shy about seeing it, the film is not just about a guy sitting in a room stuttering. In fact, there’s a lot we can learn about human nature and coaching.

Coaches Are Necessary
Some problems are too big to solve on your own. It’s easy to become stuck. In these cases, the only way you can move on is to work with someone who can help you take the next step. It’s worth paying an expert who can help you overcome your challenge. You’re not only gaining knowledge but saving time that you would waste struggling. Failure has a price.

Make Sure You Can Work With Your Coach
There are a lot of coaches but you need to find one who connects with you. It’s great if the first coach you meet is a perfect fit. But you may have to check with a few people to see who can help you best.

Keep in mind that a good coach doesn’t have to be someone who will be your best friend. They may be very different from you. The key is making sure that they can make you question the way you’re doing things and help you change. Results matter.

Stick with the Program
Coaching helps direct you to a change but it won’t necessarily get you there. You have to do that.

For instance, a lot of people receive everything they need to know when it comes to losing weight. But the key is committing to the coach’s process and making sure that you’re following it when the coach isn’t around. Taking advice is one thing but acting on it is another. To take this important step you may need to let go of your ego.

Along the same lines, you need to make sure that you don’t become a professional student. Getting help is good but relying on help and not getting to a result is bad. Ideally a coach should want to improve you to the point that you don’t need him or her anymore. Or the two of you decide to move on to a next challenge.
